Austin, Texas
Austin is located in the central part and is the fifth largest city in the U.S. State of Texas. It is the states capital, and named for Stephen Fuller Austin, known as the Father of Texas. It is ranked as one of the best places to live in.
The city is known for its nightlive and is often called "the Live Music Capital of the World". Austin is home to the only Formula 1 race in the United States.

History Of Austin - Timeline
The Coahuiltecan people were the first known inhabitants of the area that is now Austin They had lived there for thousands of years before the Europeans came. In 1519, Alvar Núñez Cabeza de Vaca, from Spain, explored the area.
In 1835, the area was settled and a small village was established. In 1837, the village Waterloo was founded. In 1839, Waterloo became the capital of the Republic of Texas and was renamed Austin. The Oakwood Cemetery was established, and the newspaper Austin City Gazette was published.
In 1840, around 900 settlers lived in the area. In 1841, a coach service was established between Austin and Houston. In 1845, the city became part of the new U.S. state of Texas. In 1855, the St. David's Episcopal Church opened, and the first Texas State Capitol building was built.
In 1857, the The General Land Office Building was completed. It is the oldest state government office building still standing. In 1862, the Police Department was created. In 1871, the railroad was completed and brought train to and from the city. In 1876, the Lundberg Bakery was built. It was a bakery owned by the Swedish-born Charles Lundberg.
In 1881, the University of Texas was established and opened its doors in 1883. In 1882, the Fischer House was built by Joseph Fischer, a prominent mason in Austin. In 1883, the Splitrock house was built by Robert F Burns from Scottland. In 1884, the Cathedral of Saint Mary was completed. In 1885, the Green Pastures building was completed. In 1886, the Driskill Hotel opened. It is the oldest hotel still running in the city. In 1895, the first electric street lights were installed.
In 1900, the population was around 22,200, and the All Saints Episcopal Church was built. In 1911, the Baker School was built. In 1915, the Paramount Theatre opened. In 1921, the Austin Civic Theatre was founded. In 1933, the Austin Public Library opened. In 1936, the Austin United States Courthouse was built. In 1937, the UT Tower was completed. In 1988, Dell Computer Corporation started its business in the city. In 1989, the actress Dakota Johnson was born in the city. In 1992, the Austin Convention Center opened. In 1999, the Austin–Bergstrom International Airport opened. In 2003, the Frost Bank Tower was built. In 2010, Andrew Joseph Stack III deliberately crashed his plane into the Echelon office complex. The crash killed himself and the IRS manager Vernon Hunter. Thirteen others were injured. In 2022, the Moody Center arena opened.
