St. Petersburg, Florida
St. Petersburg is located in the west-central part and is the fifth largest city in the U.S. State of Florida. The city is often called St Pete, or the Sunshine City. It is home to the Salvador Dali Museum. The city has many cultural attractions, bike paths, shopping opportunities, restaurants, and bars.
The city is ranked ranked number 1 in Florida for their parks and healthy living, and the St. Pete Beach is ranked one of the best beaches in Florida. The people who lives there are in the top 3 of the most educated people in the USA.

History Of Orlando - Timeline
Archaeological evidence shows that 5,000 to 7,000 years ago, Native Americans, Weeden Island cultures, lived in the area. In 1528, the Spanish explorers Pánfilo de Narváez was the first European to explore the area.
In the 1830s, Odet Philippe, from France, was the first European permanent settler in the region. The McMullen family, and the Booth family, followd and they built houses, cattle ranches, and planted crops. In 1842, Odet Philippe, bought land, north of St Pete, to grow grapefruit. In 1850, the area was still an undeveloped region with only a few families living there. In 1854, a pier was built.
In 1868, John and Anna Donaldson were the first black settler in St. Petersburg. They built a farm, planted sugar cane and orange trees. The village was now called Pinellas Village. In 1873, Dr. James Sarvent Hackney bought 600 acres of land from the state for twentyfive cents an acre, and built a home. In 1875, John Constantine Williams Sr purchased land in the area. In 1884, the St. Petersburg Times was established.
In 1888, the first hotel, called the Detroit Hotel, was built. Also in 1888, the Orange Belt Railroad was built by the Russian immigrant Peter Demens. It connected St. Petersburg to the city of Sanford. In 1889, a bigger pier was built that allowed steamboats and cargo ships to dock. In 1891, the John C. Williams House was built. In 1892, the town of St. Petersburg was incorporated. In 1897, the town had Electric power and 32 electric streetlights were installed. In 1899, Henry W. Hibbs opened a fish house on the newly built Orange Belt Railroad pier.
In 1900, about 1500 people lived in the town. In 1901, the Veillard House was built. In 1903, St. Petersberg was incorporated as a city, and the streets were paved with brick. In 1905, the first trolley service opened on New Year's Day. In 1910, the Boone House was built. In 1914, the St. Petersburg-Tampa Airboat Line opened the first ever commercial flight. In 1915, the Mirror Lake Community Library opened. It was the city's first permanent public library. In 1917, the U.S. Post Office building, at 400 First Avenue North, was completed.
In 1922, the Ponce De Leon Boutique Hotel was completed In 1924, the Gandy Bridge opened. In 1925, the Vinoy Park Hotel was built by Aymer Vinoy Laughner, a rich oil businessman. In 1926, the Casa De Muchas Flores was built. In 1928, WSUN radio began broadcasting, and the Snell Arcade building was built. In 1947, the original Al Lang Stadium was built. In 1953, WSUN-TV began broadcasting. In 1954, the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge was built.
In 1965, the Museum of Fine Arts was established. In 1982, the Salvador Dalí Museum was established. In 1990, the One Progress Plaza (Priatek Plaza), was built. In 1993, the Mazzaro Italian Market opened. In 2009, the Signature Place skyscraper was completed. In 2020, the new St. Pete Pier opened.
