Hialeah, Florida
Hialeah is located in the south-eastern part and is the seventh largest city in the U.S. State of Florida. The city is often called the most Cuban city in the U.S., with an approximately 95 percent Hispanic population.

History Of Hialeah - Timeline
Long before the first European arrived, the area were inhabited by Tequesta and later Seminole Native American groups long before the first European came.
In 1513, the first Europeans came to the area. In 1566 the Spanish claimed the area. In 1763, British forces took control over the area.
In 1900, The area was still used by the Seminole and Miccosukee tribes. In 1901, James H. Bright first visited the area. In 1909, the cattleman James H. Bright began developing the area by digging a canal and draining the land for ranching.
In 1916, James H. Bright and Glenn Curtiss formed the Curtiss and Bright Company to acquire and develop land. In 1919, The Curtiss-Bright ranch was established. The ranch It housed over 2,000 head of livestock, including cattle, sheep, goats, turkeys, and chickens.
In 1920, a wooden structure on the Curtiss-Bright ranch was built. The first homes in the area were constructed.
In 1921, Glenn Curtiss and James H. Bright recognized the potential to transformed their ranch and the swamp land into a city. The first plat was drawn up, and the town was named Hialeah. They heavily promoted the future town of Hialeah. They used aggressive marketing, including a flying circus to attract buyers to buy land. The city boomed with early residents building wood-frame homes. The James H. Bright House was built. Triangle Park was built.
In 1922, a racetrack with dogs opened. The Miami Movie Studios was built. In 1923, a post office, a general store and a gas station were established. The first school was built. The Graham House was built. In 1924, Miami-Hialeah Florida East Coast Railway line, and Miami River Canal Swing Bridge were built. A public library was founded. A water plant was built.
In 1925, Hialeah was incorporated, and the Hialeah Park Racing and Casino opened. A fire department, and Hialeah Park were established. In 1926, the Hialeah Seaboard Air Line Railway Station was built. In 1927, the Hialeah-Miami Springs Vertical Lift Bridge opened.
In 1930, Joseph E. Widener purchased Hialeah Park and initiated major upgrades. In 1933, the Hialeah Brewery opened. In 1937, aviatrix Amelia Earhart departed from Hialeah on her final around-the-world flight. In 1938, Hunter Lyon Park opened. (Babcock Park). In 1944, Home News began its publication.
In 1949, Hialeah Elementary opened. In 1954, the Hialeah Speedway opened. It was constructed by the Greater Miami Racing Association, and through community effort. The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church opened. The Mae M. Walters Elementary school opened.
In 1958, a Public Library building opened. In 1959, a liquor store opened. In 1961, the M.A. Milam Elementary School was established. In 1965, the John F. Kennedy Library was established. In 1969, the El Sol de Hialeah newspaper was in print. In 1970, the El Día newspaper was published.
In 1971, the Westland Mall opened. The Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School opened. In 1973, KC and the Sunshine Band was founded in Hialeah. The Colonial Twin cinema opened. In 1980, the Miami-Dade College opened their Hialeah Campus. The nightclub Casanova's opened. The Amelia Earhart Park was established.
In 1985, Hialeah station opened. In 1999, Telemundo American Spanish-language terrestrial network relocated and established its headquarters in Hialeah. In 2009, Hialeah Park opened up for quarter horse racing. In 2022, a bridge opened, connecting Hialeah to Miami Lakes.
In 2026, there were 226,165 people living in the city.
