Buckeye, Arizona
Buckeye is located in the west south-central part and is the 12th largest city in the U.S. State of Arizona. The city is considered the westernmost suburb of Phoenix about 45-50 minutes by car from downtown Phoenix.
It is a fast-growing city but still has a small-town feel. The city is one of the best for "homeownership" in the U.S., and one the safest city in Arizona.

History Of Buckeye - Timeline
Thousands of years before the first white settler came, the land was inhabited by the ancient Hohokam tribe who built the original irrigation canals that settlers later improved. In 1450, the Hohokam culture began to decline and various other Indian tribes inhabited or utilized the region
In 1539, the Frensh missionary Fray Marcos de Niza explored the area. In 1700, the Spanish missionary Father Eusebio Kino explored the area.
In 1877, Thomas Newt Clanton and his a party, establishing the first settlement in the area. In 1884, Malie Monroe Jackson started to developed 10 miles of the Buckeye Canal. In 1886, Joshua L. Spain built the Old Spain House. In 1888, the town was founded, a post office was established named Buckeye, and the town was originally platted as Sidney.
In 1890, Palo Verde Baptist Church was built. In 1910, the town of Sidney was officially renamed and replatted as Buckeye. The Arizona Eastern Railroad arrived. In 1912, the Old Buckeye Courthouse was built, and a steam rail line connected Buckeye to Phoenix. In 1915, a highway was completed.
In 1921, the Gillespie Dam Bridge was built. In 1925, the Buckeye Public Library was founded. In 1929, Buckeye was officially incorporates as a town. The Helzapoppin' PRCA Rodeo was first held. In 1935, the Buckeye Woman's Club officially opened its own clubhouse.
In 1942, the Luke Aux Field number 5, was built, which later became the Buckeye Municipal Airport. In 1962, the popular La Placita Cafe opened. In 1972, the public library building was completed. In 1986, the Buckeye Lake Yacht Club pool was constructed. In 1993, parts of the Gillespie Dam was swept away during a flood.
In 2000, around 6,500 people lived in the town. In 2007, the Sundance Town Center opened. In 2009, a City Hall was built. In 2014, the town was officially upgraded to a city. In 2020, Buckeye became one of the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. In 2026, there were 114,334 people living in the city.
